Sunday, June 14th - Starting at 3:00 PM

Join fellow Friends for our 2015 Summer Meeting at the North River Section of Pilot Mountain State Park. The turn for the North River Section entrance is 0.4 mile beyond the Horne Creek Entrance off Hauser Road.  We will be meeting at the picnic tables after the second ford.  If you have not been there since the stream restoration, the fords have been reworked along with the restoration and they are not as deep with no big holes or large rocks in them.

We will show off stream bank improvements to Horne Creek completed last year.  Ranger Jesse Anderson will present a program on Wood Thrush research going on there and will also lead a wildflower walk showing off a meadow planting that FSM helped fund.
Superintendent Matt Windsor will lead an easy stream walk explaining the improvements, structures in the stream and ongoing stream research.

We have something for the younger Friends as well so bring your children and grandchildren.  Matt's oldest daughter will lead others in collecting insects in the meadow with a net and then create art using those insects.

All these activities will begin at 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon, June 14th.  Around 5:00 - 5:30 we will enjoy hot dogs.  FSM will provide the hot dogs, buns, condiments, drinks, and paper products.  Members are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Hope to see you there!
