National Trails Day Hike and Trail Dedication
River Section North, Pilot Mountain State Park
As a part of National Trails Day, we will be dedicating a newly relocated and rehabbed trail in the River Section North of Pilot Mountain State Park.  During the past fourteen months FSM members and a few other volunteers have been working on the Horne Creek and Yadkin River Trails there.  We rehabbed a few short sections, but mostly built a new trail along Horne Creek and the Yadkin River.  Come out and hike this trail with us and as an added feature we will check out the eagle's nest across the river.  This will be an easy out & back hike three miles in length with little elevation gain and a very moderate pace.  We will begin the hike at 9:00 am.
Horne Creek Trailhead:  located off Hauser Road.  From the Pinnacle exit off US 52, just follow the brown signs for 6.5 miles.  Turn left onto the unpaved park entrance road 0.4 mile after passing the Horne Creek Historical Farm.  You will ford the creek twice before coming to the parking area.
